The AHRMA Board of Directors elected Jeff Smith Treasurer in a secret ballot yesterday, during a meeting held at Antelope Valley Best Western hotel in Lancaster, California. According to an AHRMA member at the meeting, after Smith was nominated by AHRMA Board member Tom Bentley and after Smith’s nomination was seconded by Board member Robert Borg, Smith told the Board that he would only accept the position if a list of seven demands were met. Smith then read his demands, non Board members were thrown out of the meeting room, and Smith was subsequently elected. Roadracingworld.com does not have a copy of the list of Smith’s demands, which an AHRMA member at the meeting said mainly dealt with financial reporting on the part of the AHRMA staff. Dave Janiec was re-elected as AHRMA Chairman and Mark Hatten was elected Secretary.
