Sixtieth WERA National Endurance Series win for Vesrah Suzuki Seven years and sixty wins against nationwide competition have kept Vesrah Suzuki leading the WERA National Endurance Series. Endurance veteran Tray Batey returned to the team after an injury put him on the sideline during round 1 of the 2008 series. Back with his fellow endurance race winners Batey led a familiar group of riders including Mark Junge, John Jacobi and Chris Ulrich in accomplishing the teams 60th WERA Endurance Series win. Round two of the WERA National Endurance Series was held at Talladega Grand Prix raceway in Talladega, Alabama under sporadically damp conditions. Throughout the four-hour event race teams and riders were kept constantly guessing about air pressure, track conditions and tires. This kept the race exciting as several top teams ran into problems with equipment and/or track conditions during the event. The race started out in familiar fashion with Tray starting things off and establishing a slight lead by the finish of his first stint. John Jacobi and Chris Ulrich kept the pressure up pushing the team Suzuki GSX-R1000 further from the field as the race continued. The team did such a good job Mark Junge decided to stay off the bike and ran things with Tony Pouge and Nancy Junge in the pits. “It was great to have Tray back to lead things off,” said Mark Junge. “We put together a strong plan that we stuck behind throughout the event.” In the end Tray, John and Chris did exactly what we expected and the team picked up another win. We would especially like to thank Christoph Knoche and Jeff Johnston of Pirelli tires for their support and help with tire choices for the tricky conditions.
