From a press release issued by The Sportbike Company: The Sportbike Company and Öhlins USA launch two Öhlins Track Lab events in 2008 The all-new Track Lab series from The Sportbike Company kicks off with Öhlins Suspension at two premium tracks in North America. The June 9th at the Legendary Road America Raceway in Elkhart Lake, WI for any brand sport motorcycles, and a Ducati-exclusive Track Lab on July 28th at the Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course in Lexington, OH, are both premium track day events that will feature the option of enrolling in the Öhlins Track Lab program. Track Lab events bring together track day participants and the technical know-how of top tuners and technicians. Öhlins suspension technicians straight from the AMA Superbike series, will host the Ohlin Track Lab events. North America’s top suspension techs will help dial in participants’ sport bike suspension through seminars and specific technical discussions to not only inform, but to arm the rider with motorcycle specific information on suspension set-up and tuning. Each track lab participant will be given a set-up log book to measure key base settings, and for Öhlins technicians to record adjustments over the course of the track day. Multiple sessions will allow participants to try a variety of settings to understand not only suspension theory, but suspension reality and how it relates to their particular machine. With the event focus on suspension, each Öhlins Track Lab participant will be expected to arrive at the track with a safe and track-prepared motorcycle. It is expected that participant machines will be equipped with new, or near new condition tires. The event focus will of course will feature Öhlins products, however motorcycles with any brand suspension are welcome to participate. Of course Öhlins forks and competition fork cartridge systems equipped also be addressed if the motorcycle is so equipped. “This is an unprecedented opportunity for the most dedicated track enthusiast to learn about their Öhlins Suspension from the very technicians that work on the top racers in the AMA series,” says Öhlins USA President Doug Shaw. “It’s our goal to directly connect with our customers, and for each of those enthusiasts to come away from the event not only with a better handling motorcycle, but a much deeper knowledge in how to set-up and adjust their Ohlins suspension on any motorcycle.” To register for either Öhlins Track Lab event, log on to www.sportbiketracktime.com, and register for the June 9th or July 28th events. Cost for the Öhlins Track Lab event is $200.00 above the cost of the track day, and includes Dinner for one the evening before the event, premium lunch on the day of the event, access to Öhlins technicians, the suspension log and other at-the-track features.
