From a press release issued by Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca: MONTEREY, Calif. (March 20, 2008) Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca announced today that the Supermoto USA series will race at the track during the Corona AMA Superbike Finale weekend, Sept. 27-28. The Supermoto USA race course will be part dirt-track and part pavement located between turns 2-5. “I’m thrilled to be bringing our series to the world-famous Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca,” stated Brok McAllister, founder of Supermoto USA. “The track will be constructed in the same general area as the last time we were here. We feel we can safely bring the spectators even closer to the racing action than before by lengthening the course and placing the jumps right in front of the fans!” “This is a great addition to our September event,” stated Gill Campbell, CEO of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. She added, “Supermoto and AMA Superbike on the same weekend will give fans a great opportunity to see different forms of motorcycle racing in one location.” Part of Supermoto USA’s stop at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, will include the 2nd Annual Supermoto USA Women’s Only Races, featuring some of the leading female racers in the country. The Corona AMA Superbike Finale will be held on Sept. 27-28, and will feature road racing from the AMA Superbike, Supersport, Formula Xtreme, and Superstock series, and Supermoto racing from Supermoto USA. The 2008 race season at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca includes the Monterey Festival of Speed (May 16-18), the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix (July 18-20), the 35th Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races presented by Toyota (August 15-17), the Corona AMA Superbike Finale (September 27-28), and the Monterey Sports Car Championships (October 17-19). Tickets are available online at www.laguna-seca.com, www.ticketmaster.com, or by calling 1-800-327-SECA. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was established in 1957. The world-renowned raceway has been operated since its inception by the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), a not-for-profit 501C(4) corporation. Each race season, SCRAMP donates its net proceeds to the volunteer groups that help put on the races.
