In a phone call to Roadracingworld.com this morning, Willow Springs International Raceway and Willow Springs Motorcycle Club (WSMC) owner Bill Huth said that he is cancelling the annual Toyota 200 effective immediately. Huth said that current economic conditions have made it impossible to maintain the sponsorship necessary to support the $150,000-purse race, which paid $50,000 to win. The $30,000-purse Roadracing World 250/50 held in conjunction with the Toyota 200 is also being cancelled. The 2008 Toyota 200 would have been the 7th running of the event. The 2008 Roadracing World 250/50 would have been the 6th running of the event. Huth also said that he supported the recent sale of AMA Pro Racing to Daytona Motorsports Group. “I can see that they’re gonna make motorcycle racing into a big thing,” said Huth.
