From a press release issued by MRA: The Motorcycle Roadracing Association (MRA) unveils their latest race series in support of getting more females on the grids, increasing membership and spectators during the 2008 MRA events. For many years the MRA has produced great racing champions, numerous AMA competitors and countless opportunities for the local motorcycling public to push their limits legally. In furtherance of those traditions, 2008 is going to be quite an exciting time for lady racers in Colorado. Noticing tremendous success in regional clubs supporting a “ladies only” race class, the MRA has created the Ladies of the Rockies (LoR) series sponsored by Michelin. The Ladies of the Rockies will allow women riders from all over the Rocky Mountain region to compete on the latest technology motorcycle manufacturers have to offer. LoR has been created to encourage women – the fastest growing segment of the motorcycle community – to attain a legal license to speed!!! There is only one rule to race LoR – you must be female. With unlimited specifications regarding bike origin, displacement and modifications, ladies can race anything from the wildest GSX-R 1000 superbike to the mildest SV650 supersport machine. Due to this open class structure, skill and talent from the Ladies of the Rockies will shine through. Michelin supports this series as the title sponsor, which also includes contingency payouts for the LoR grid. Whether you come out to spectate or participate, the creation of the Ladies of the Rockies series means this is the year to be part of the MRA!
