From a press release issued by Honda Australia: JUNIORS LET IT FLY AT HONDA TRAINING DAY Honda Australia, the California Superbike School and the MRRDA joined forces on Australia Day at Broadford Raceway to provide a number of lucky juniors the chance to clock up much needed track time. In addition to a fleet of CBR150Rs Honda Australia and Motoglic’s Paul Free (Team Manager for Honda’s road racing team) also brought along the new Moriwaki MD250H for a few riders to try out. First off the line, the “Kickstart” group spent a bit of time with their instructors to learn basic bike control techniques before being allowed time on the circuit with the CBR150. The learner groups were then taken through race starts and hard braking before being put into a simulated race-start on the grid. “Their training can clearly be seen at this point,” said MRRDA Chairman Paul Edwards. “Most of them look nothing like the same youngster that took their first wobbly basic lessons at the start of the day. You just can not believe what Steve (Brouggy) and the California Superbike School can achieve in one day.” Brouggy agrees. “It’s great to work with these kids. They are like a blank canvass without pre-installed bad habits.” Last year’s MRRDA Junior class winner Ryan Dymond, along with Adrian Nestorvic, Adrian Digian Domenico and Brodie Waters were then let loose on the Moriwaki 250. Free said the recently arrived 250 was everything they expected and more. “All of the kids who rode this bike said it was fantastic in every way.” “Young Brodie Waters and Adrian Digian Domenico, who both have 125 GP bikes, said they particularly preferred the 250 in the way the bike steered and the way the engine delivered its power,” Free added. Waters was the quickest of the bunch and clocked a time of around 1:04 at the Victorian track after only a short practice session. “The Moriwaki howled its way around the track without missing a beat and impressed everyone watching and riding,” said MRRDA’s Edwards who also got a chance to throw his leg over the 250. “I can’t wait to see a grid full of these things ripping up the Aussie tracks. The brakes are awesome; it seems to just drop into corners and has got an amazing amount of punch out of corners for a 250.” Track officials from St George Motorcycle Club in NSW and a handful of local racing enthusiasts, as well as support from Red Bull and Draggin Jeans helped to make the event a great success.
