GSX-R Trophy Offers British Racers Opportunities To Get Noticed

From a press release issued by GSX-R Trophy Press Office: HOW many race series give you the chance to ride at the same event as seven times World Champion Valentino Rossi, includes the opportunity to race at a World Superbike event and offers the winner a ride on a full blown British Superbike at the Race of the Year? One series that offers all this is the 10-round ACU Suzuki GSX-R600 Trophy. The GSX-R600 Trophy started out in 2007 as a grass roots championship which was set up to find new home grown racing talent. This year’s GSX-R Trophy is shaping up well and is one of the cheapest ways to go racing. For just £12,900 (Inc VAT) the riders will be provided with a new race ready 2008 GSX-R600, a supply of Dunlop tyres per round, entry fees are covered, full protective clothing is supplied by Dainese (helmet, boots, gloves, leathers and back protector), and experienced racers are on hand for tuition purposes. Former British Supersport Champion and three times British Superbike Champion John Reynolds will be an ambassador for the series. JR as he is affectionately known is fired up about being involved with such an exciting project; it is his desire to find the next Barry Sheene and he will be on hand to provide support and advice for all of the Trophy riders. JR said: “It is a mission of mine to find the next big talent in the UK. I have enjoyed a great career and now I am retired I want to cheer on the Brits as they take on the world. The ACU Suzuki GSX-R600 Trophy is aimed at getting people into racing and giving them the best possible platform to secure a professional ride after just a single season. I am proud to support in any way.” During the season there will be prizes with the top three receiving tyres plus Express Insurance will be running its Top Gun Cash award with £100 going to the highest placed Novice or Intermediate at each event. At the end of the season Express Insurance will present an overall cash award of £500 to the highest placed Novice or Intermediate Novice Licence holder in the Championship. The Championship winner will win a Suzuki GSX-R1000 Superstock motorcycle and the highest placed under 25-year old rider in the Championship will receive a Suzuki GSX-R600 Superstock motorcycle. As well as providing all the necessary racing hard wear, the GSX-R Trophy will also supply several top class opportunities that money simply can’t buy. Two rounds of the series will be held at the British round of the MotoGP World Championship allowing Trophy riders to show case their talent in front of the GP crowd. They will be sharing the tarmac of Donington Park with the best riders in the world – Rossi, Stoner, Vermeulen and Toseland. The top riders from the GSX-R Trophy will also be put forward to run as wild cards in the GSX-R750 Cup which supports World Superbikes at Brands Hatch and Donington Park in the UK. Plus the winner of the GSX-R Trophy will be given the opportunity to race for Rizla Suzuki on a full factory Superbike at the Race of the Year at Mallory Park. The GSX-R Trophy is the one make series to get involved with as it has the potential to fast track any up and coming talent. With full media back up the Trophy offers the opportunity to stand out from the crowd. Cadwell Park is the venue for the first round of the GSX-R Trophy held on the 4th-5th May.
