The Motorcycle Show in Portland on December 8 & 9 will go on! Producer modifies name and Oregon still gets a new motorcycle show. Woodland, WA – Kinsey-Wilson Enterprises, Inc. (KWE), producers of the Portland Motorcycle Show, December 8-9, 2007, responded today to Advanstar’s law firm Fryberger, Buchanan, Smith & Frederick with regard to Advanstar’s claim of infringement of its trademark “INTERNATIONAL MOTORCYCLE SHOWS” and the cease and desist demand letter, sent on November 8, 2007 and posted on Roadracing World’s website. The Portland show producers want to assure their vendors, sponsors, supporters and the awaiting audience in Portland, OR that the show WILL go on as planned under its modified name: the Portland Motorcycle Show. KWE has deleted the word “International” from their show title in response to Advanstar’s notice and demand. “We have no affiliation with Advanstar,” commented Jason Wilson, President of KWE, the Portland Motorcycle Show’s producer. “In speaking with dealers and manufacturers to create and fill the event, KWE has always clearly stated that KWE is not affiliated with Advanstar.” Mr. Wilson further said: “We are creating a new motorcycle show in Portland to enhance the motorcycle dealers efforts in their particular geographical area. The content of the event is a new motorcycle showcase & Powersports expo with manufacturer product offerings from Japan, Europe and America. We had no intent to infringe upon Advanstar’s ‘International Motorcycle Shows(r)’ mark, tour name or reputation. We have a Portland International Auto Show in the area and want people to recognize that this event is specifically a new motorcycle show in the same spirit, not a museum-style show. We used terminology to describe the category. Having now learned that these three words together are Advanstar’s registered mark in the US, we have changed the name of the Portland show.” KWE is an event production company that produces the Portland Rod & Custom Show and Seattle Roadster Show (museum style, hot rod and custom car shows). In an effort to expand its event offerings and because Portland did not have a new motorcycle show, KWE decided to create a Portland-based motorcycle show. “KWE wants to present an event to support the motorcycle industry in Oregon and Southwest Washington and give our dealers and enthusiasts something to look forward to annually. We are proud of what we have created for the first year and have a good reputation,” emphasized Wilson. On a personal note, Jason Wilson, president of KWE and producer of the Portland Motorcycle Show would like to thank John Ulrich and Roadracing World for posting news of the event. “We did not know that our original descriptive title would cause this problem. We regret that Roadracing World was caught in the middle, but we have acted promptly to change the name to meet Advanstar’s objections.” The All-New Portland Motorcycle Show presented by SDS Performance and powered by Cascade Tracktime makes its debut at the Expo Center on December 8 & 9, 2007. Show hours are Saturday: 10:00am to 8:00pm and Sunday 10:00am to 5:00pm. For more, visit: www.portlandmotorcycleshow.com. The Portland Motorcycle Show is produced by Kinsey Wilson Enterprises, Inc., Producers of the Portland Rod & Custom Show and Seattle Roadster Show.
