Racer Santiago Villa, injured in a refueling fire at Daytona International Speedway October 19, faces more skin graft surgery tomorrow. “The surgery is what makes me a little scared,” Villa said via cell phone, from his hospital bed Wednesday evening. But Villa said he has been encouraged by many cards and letters from people who have read about his plight on Roadracingworld.com. “It’s very, very nice, I really appreciate it,” Villa said. “Even people I don’t know have sent me cards. It’s very nice and it means a lot to me. I want to thank everybody.” Villa is hospitalized in the Burn Unit at Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Florida, where he was flown by helicopter after initial transport to a local hospital in Daytona Beach. Villa expects to remain hospitalized for at least another week before he can return to his home in Colombia. Cards and letters may be sent to: Patient Santiago Villa Venegas Orlando Regional Medical Center 1414 Kuhl Ave Orlando, FL 32806 Phone (407) 841-5111 www.orhs.org
