FIM welcomes European Union commitment to motorcycling in Urban Mobility The FIM welcomes the European Union Green paper on Urban Transport and its recognition of the need to optimise all transport modes to improve urban mobility. The increased use of Powered Two Wheelers (PTWs) of all types, – motorcycles, mopeds and scooters can make a significant contribution to this objective and the FIM is committed to working with the EU to help it meet the challenges of reducing urban congestion, pollution and accidents and shape a policy for the benefit of towns and cities across the EU. FIM Chief Executive Officer Guy Maitre commented: “The integration of the PTW into transport planning is growing. We have seen this in a number of EU Member States and FIM welcomes the progress in Brussels adding a new dimension to policy making. We look forward to helping the EU authorities with the development of this important policy over the next few months.”
