Orlando, FL. September, 2007 – The MotorSports Museum of Orlando has closed its doors to the public. The entire collection of rare motorcycles and motorsports memorabilia will be auctioned off on October 7, 2007 at the museum’s location on 7324 International Drive. The public auction starts at 10.00am. Preview of the auction items will be held Friday October 5th from 12.00pm 4.00pm, and Saturday October 6th from 12.00pm 6.00pm. Highlights of the collection include the only-known official “Dale Earnhardt #3″ race used stock car not privately owned by Richard Childress Racing, Danny Miller’s 1970 Plastic Fantastic championship funny car, E.J.Potter’s “Michigan Mad-Man” Whizzer bike, Steve McQueen’s 1967 Triumph Bonneville motorcycle, with certificate of authenticity, ridden by the late actor in the movie “The Great Escape,” and the #355 “Grumpy Old Men” Lakester racecar, that set 14 world records, and is race ready to set another record. Of significant interest will be one of the most extensive personal Vintage Triumph motorcycle collections in the world, spanning the 1920s-1970s, to include Bonnevilles, Tigers, and Thunderbirds. Other vintage motorcycles among the collection include MV Agusta, BMW, BSA, Ducati, Harley Davidson, Indian, Sunbeam, Royal Enfield, Benelli, Kawasaki and Ariel to name a few. Boyd Uzzell, a racing and motorcycle enthusiast, accumulated over 240 motorcycles through a period of 40 years. It was a passion for motorcycles, plus encouragement from close friends and family that brought Boyd’s dream of owning a MotorSports Museum to a reality. Boyd knew it would be a shame not to share his private collection of some of the rarest bikes ever made with the rest of the world. However, despite his best efforts to keep the museum open, for personal reasons he has to close the facility. This has now made available to the public a rare chance to purchase and own these unique items from Boyd’s collection. This auction event will indeed be a major attraction for many motorsport museums and private individuals to add to their collection.
