Erion Honda’s Josh Hayes was injured when he crashed during AMA Supersport practice Saturday morning at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Hayes, a close third in the Supersport Championship point standings coming into the weekend, highsided his CBR600RR exiting Turn Two early in the session, according to his Team Owner Kevin Erion. Hayes then landed on his feet. Erion said Hayes had been checked out by the track doctor and released with clearance to continue riding. A source close to Hayes, however, said he may have broken both feet, as they have swelled up considerably since the incident. Hayes was unavailable for comment at post time.
