MONTEREY, Calif. Corona has signed on as the title sponsor of the Corona AMA Superbike Championships on Sept 15-16 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The weekend promises big-time action both on and off the track, as all four classes of the American Motorcyclist Association’s (AMA) Superbike Championship put the wraps on the 2007 season. Fan activities will be highlighted by the weekend-long party at the new Corona Beach featuring live music and beach volleyball, as well as a fan parade lap and rider autograph session on Sunday. The Rocket Nation stunt team will be performing on track both Saturday and Sunday. “With their tremendous promotional abilities and enthusiasm for the sport, Corona is a perfect partner as Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca re-launches the stand alone AMA Superbike race as the Corona AMA Superbike Championships,” said Gill Campbell, the track’s CEO and general manager. Weekend tickets for the Corona AMA Superbike Championships are only $45, while Sunday tickets are $30 and Saturday tickets are $25, if purchased by Sept.10. All tickets include paddock pass and open grandstand seating, including the new Corkscrew grandstand. Children 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Unpaved parking for motorcycles and cars is free, while paved motorcycle parking for the weekend can be purchased in advance for $20. Ticket and event information is available online at www.laguna-seca.com and www.ticketmaster.com. Details on the AMA Superbike Championship can be found at www.amasuperbike.com. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2007. The world-renowned raceway has been operated since its inception by the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), a not-for-profit 501C(4) corporation. Each race season, SCRAMP donates its net proceeds to the volunteer groups that help put on the races. Last season, SCRAMP donated over $400,000 to those local charities and civic organizations. Remaining events in Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca’s Golden Anniversary include the Corona AMA Superbike Championships September 15-16 and the Monterey Sports Car Championships, featuring the American Le Mans Series’ season finale, October 19-21.
