MICHAEL JORDAN MOTORSPORTS SUZUKI READY FOR ROAD ATLANTA Yates Aims For a Third Superbike Podium Finish Aurora, IL Michael Jordan Motorsports Suzuki’s Aaron Yates will seek his third Superbike podium finish of the season when the team travels to Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia August 31 September 2. “Road Atlanta is a track I go well at, so I’m targeting a top three finish,” said Yates. Yates and the Jordan team participated in a test at the 2.54 mile Road Atlanta course, where he rode an unofficial time of 1:22.4. Technical manager Pete Mauhar commented, “The changes we made on the Superbike seem very promising and we are all looking forward to the next few rounds.” In 2006, Yates earned two-third place podium finishes in the AMA’s premium Superbike class and qualified his Suzuki GSX-R1000 at 1:23.942. Yates, who is currently fifth in overall Superbike championship points, is only two points from fourth place and eight points from third place. Race winners earn 36 valuable points in the championship. According to AMA records, a privateer has not been in the top three in Superbike points in over ten years. Jordan Suzuki hopes this is the year to prove their Superbike program is a championship contender. Jordan Suzuki rider Jake Holden also tested at Road Atlanta, clocking an unofficial time of 1:23.6 on his Superstock race bike. Both Holden’s and Yates’ times were competitive with the series leaders and well below last year’s winning race pace of 1:24.486. Last year, Holden brought home two top-ten finishes in Superbike and finished Superstock in sixth place, one slot ahead of his current teammate Yates. Holden has had three podium finishes in the Superstock class this season. Following Road Atlanta, the Jordan Suzuki riders and crew will visit Monterey, California’s Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca September 14-16 for the 2007 AMA Championship season finale.
