Hopkins and Vermeulen rolling out for Rizla John Hopkins and Chris Vermeulen return to action this weekend as the ‘guest stars’ for the annual Rizla Racing Day, as they demonstrate the awesome power and sound of the Suzuki GSV-R at the historic Assen Circuit in the Netherlands. The Rizla Racing Day is supported by Suzuki, and is a unique motorsport event that gives spectators a chance to witness many different forms of racing including; Formula 3 cars, Supercars, the European Superkart Championship and the latest rounds of the Dutch Superbike, Supersport and Superstock Championships all on one day. Plus for the first time in the event’s eight-year history the opportunity this year to witness the Rizla Suzuki GSV-R prototype MotoGP bike close-up-and-personal, as the two Rizla MotoGP racers put the machine through its paces around the 4.5km track. Hopkins and Vermeulen will first take to the track at 13.15hrs local time (11.15 GMT) for a five-lap demonstration, and then will follow this up with another five demo laps of the track at 14.00hrs local time. The Rizla Racing Day is a free-to-attend event with tickets and more information available by visiting www.rizla.nl The event takes place on Sunday 12th August, with the first race – a round of the CIK-FIA European Superkart Championship getting underway at 11.00hrs local time (09.00hrs GMT). John Hopkins: “This is a great event and one I’m really looking forward to being involved in. To see the different forms of racing that are there will be very interesting and it will be a good opportunity to open up MotoGP to a few new fans that have probably never heard or seen a MotoGP bike. We’ll certainly put on a good show for the spectators, that’s for sure!” Chris Vermeulen: “I’ve been really interested in this event since we were asked to attend; it is something so different it will be great to be involved. I have a big interest in cars as well as bikes so I’m hoping I get the chance to have a good look around the Supercars and see them in action. This is something quite unique having cars, bikes and karts on the same programme and I’m really pleased that we will be there as ‘special guests’ and show the Dutch fans what our bikes can do!”
