For the most part, parity ruled at round seven of the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association’s (CMRA) Championship Series held at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit near Hallett, Oklahoma, as no one totally dominated the Expert classes and the wins got spread around fairly evenly.
For the second round in a row, Dustin Dominguez ended up with the most wins, this time with four, while Ty Howard, Dane Westby and Louisiana’s Ricky Parker finished out the sprint racing action with two victories each on the 1.8-mile course.
Records did fall, however, as Randall Kienast and Ty Howard took turns lowering the track record for the counter-clockwise direction, with Howard winding up with the final mark, a 1:16.149 while riding a Suzuki GSX-R1000 during the Northwest Honda Formula 1 Expert race. Howard also held the old mark coming into this weekend’s event, a 1:17.573, set a year ago.
Also taking Expert wins were Kienast, Tyler McDonald, Ryan O’Donnell, Andy Galindo, Jake Lewis, Jack Vigneau, and David Arnold.
Dustin Doucet once again dominated the Novice classes with four wins.
In Saturday’s endurance action, Team Fastlane claimed their first-ever overall win of the series by taking a dramatic eight-second margin of victory over Shogun 2 in the five hour event.
Team Fastlane held a one-lap advantage during the final hour of the race but had to pit for repairs with 20 minutes left in the race, making the final few minutes of the race much more exciting.
Short Bus Racing finished out the event in third overall, while GMAN Racing and Lone Star Track Days rounded out the top five.
In the Shogun Mini Endurance race, Excel Racing outlasted Hambone for the win, with Desert-Mice Too beating out Earl’s Racing Team for third.
In Saturday’s mini sprint races, Conner Blevins beat Jake Chapman to win the Formula 5 race, while Roger Albert topped Sam Carey in the Formula 7 division.
In the Formula 4 class, Stephen Guynes edged Hayden Gillim by 0.224 seconds for the win, and Jake Chapman claimed the win in the Formula 6 division over Roger Albert.
Randall Falt turned in a great performance to win the Empower Your Future Junior Motard race over Chris Haesemeyer.
