NELSONS LEDGES, Ohio Sam Williams solidified his points lead in the solo Ironbutt division in the Fasttrax 3-hour endurance series on Saturday, July 21 at Nelsons Ledges, Ohio.

However, the points pot was stirred in the other divisions with new teams and the points leaders going into Saturday’s endurance facing mechanical problems in Saturday’s event.

Williams of SCVR Racing riding a vintage Kawasaki KZ 1000 completed 132 laps of the two mile course, putting him ahead by two laps at the drop of the flag.

NELSONS LEDGES, Ohio Sam Gaige riding a Suzuki GSX-R 1000 in the fifth race Sunday in Fasttrax’s sprint series at Nelson’s Ledges, Ohio ran the fastest lap time of the day, a 1:08.769.

Gaige was apparently inspired by the 1:09.020 he ran in the third race, which was the second fastest lap time of the day and he followed with the third fastest lap of the day in the seventh race. Gaiges’s overall lap times had him place first in Superbike Unlimited, GTI and Superbike 600 expert classes.

The epic battle of the day came in the sixth race as Sam Williams on a Kawasaki KZ 1000-ELR bested Jim Sublet riding a Yamaha FZS 900 in the Veterans B class. Williams owned the corners and Sublet the straights. The corners won, giving the first place finish to Williams.

Kasper takes Middleweight Supersport victory for CRA July weekend.

Central Roadracing Association (CRA) July 21st and 22nd, 2007 at BIR.

CRA welcomed our racers, staff, and fans back to Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, MN for our third event of the season. Saturday hosted our Supersport sprints and our second 2 hour endurance race for our 2007 endurance series.

Middleweight SS expert was won by Tony Kasper #122 with Matt Losen #1 coming in second. Jess Moeding #36 and Aaron Anderson #225 taking first and second for the novices. Ultralight SS was won by Alex Freeman #177 on his Ducati Monster 620 for expert and Andy Martin #60 on a Kawasaki EX500 for novice. The Lightweight SS winner was Brad Zajic #75 on a Suzuki SV650 for expert and William Kerns #238 in novice on a SV650 as well. Winners in Heavyweight SS where Tony Kasper #122 in expert and Jess Moeding #36 in novice. Lastly the Unlimited SS victor was Wes Good #140 for our expert class.

The 2 hour endurance race saw perfect weather and a good turn out of enthusiastic teams. 314racing.com #186 took first place in GP4 and the overall victory on a Suzuki GSXR1000 with Jenspeed/Flying Monkeys #48 taking second overall on a Suzuki GSXR1000. The GP3 class victory and 4th overall went to Shockwave 2 #207 on a Yamaha R6. With the win in GP2 and 6th overall to TPracing #80 aboard a Suzuki SV650. Our final endurance event of 2007 will be a 5 hour race scheduled for Sunday Sept. 16th.

Saturday evening we had a great pitbike race complete with Zumas backing it in and crashes galore.

Sunday comprised our Superbike and GP races to close out the weekend. Our morning practice saw some rain but by Sunday afternoon the sun decided to join us again and make for a great afternoon of racing. Andrew Kruse #898 won the Supertwins race for expert and Noel Shuckhart #117 for novice. The Middleweight SB expert race was won by Shawn Conrad #97 and Tucker Dally #309 for novice while Heavyweight SB expert victory went to Tony Kasper #122 for expert and Nickolas Campbell #818 for novice. Unlimited SB expert victory went to Shawn Conrad #97. Ultralight SB and GP winner in expert went to Chad Bakkene #186 onboard a Yamaha YZ450 motard with a train of Ducati Monster 620 in hot pursuit. Andy Martin #60 took first in Ultralight SB for the novice and Joey Kasper #944 for novice in Ultralight GP. Middleweight and Heavyweight GP expert races were both won by Tony Kasper #122 with Tucker Dally #309 in MW GP Novice and Aaron Anderson #225 in HW GP Novice. Unlimited GP saw Greg Fryer #601 take the win. Lightweight SB was Kurt Proctor #25 for expert and Tony Williams #82 for novice. Lightweight GP wins for expert Brian Okubo #37, novice Tony Williams #82.

Millennium/KWS Suzuki Race Back From Incident for Two Top Twenty Finishes.

Laguna Seca, CA July 2007 — Millennium/KWS Suzuki sponsored by Ron Ayers Motorsports came away with some solid results despite some bad luck at the USGP/AMA Superbike weekend at Laguna Seca. The team’s focus this year is the Superstock class. With only the Superbike class racing at Laguna Seca the team decided to use this opportunity to develop a competitive Superstock set up in Superbike for the AMA’s return to the famous Northern California track in September for the series finale

This was team rider David Weber’s first trip to Laguna Seca and he did an amazing job of learning the track on his Suzuki GSX-R1000 with the extremely limited track time available to the AMA Superbike class at this event. In his first session on track Weber was already turning laps in the 1:32 range. For Superbike qualifying, David was able to lower his lap time an incredible four seconds to qualify on the seventh row with a time of 1:28.612 for twenty-fifth position. Weber’s teammate John Haner unfortunately had a mechanical problem early in the session and was only able to turn a 1:28.908 to qualify in the twenty-seventh position.

The Superbike race was the last race of the day in front of a huge crowd of over 143,000 fans. Both riders got excellent starts and moved up several positions going through turn one. In turn two both riders were run off track when factory MV Augusta rider Luca Scassa crashed. When the GSX-R1000 mounted Millennium Technologies riders returned to the racing surface they were in the twenty-ninth and thirtieth position. Unwilling to give up, both Weber and Haner put their heads down and proceeded to turn their fastest laps of the weekend. Haner worked his way up to fifteenth position and Weber worked his way up to seventeenth position. With seven laps to go, both riders received a dash warning that they were running out of fuel in their Superstock spec fuel tanks. Weber was able to conserve fuel to finish seventeenth, but Haner’s bike began to cut out on the last lap and he faded back to finish just behind his teammate in the eighteenth position. David’s consistent finishes have moved him up to twelfth in Superbike points, only twenty-four points back on Factory Kawasaki’s Roger Lee Hayden.

John Haner: The weekend went pretty well. The bikes are super fast and the tires are amazing. We put together a really good set-up with the Penske suspension and when we come back here in September we will be ready. I really want to thank Rockstar Energy Drink and Komodo for coming out this weekend and for all their support. I also have to thank my team, Michael Godin, Chip Spalding, Blake Kelley, and Tim Godshall.

David Weber: I was very happy on how the weekend turned out. I got some decent track time and I really like this track. Now that I have some experience here and we have a pretty good base line set up, I am really excited to come back in September. The Dunlop tires worked great this weekend. Some of the teams on other brands were having problems, but the Dunlop’s were consistent the entire time. I want to thank the team for all their hard work, and especially my crew Rick and Matt.

Kevin Hunt (Team Owner) We knew going in that this was going to be a difficult weekend but the team worked really well and we came away with some good information for the next Laguna round in September. The factory teams have been able to test here several times, and with only two practice sessions for us we knew set up was going to be key. I want to thank all our sponsors, especially Pit Bull, LeoVince, and Dunlop for all of their help this weekend. The next three races are in our neck of the woods and we are looking forward to a little home field advantage.

NCR Dominates the Ducati Speed Week!

NCR Corse was present with factory rider Valter Bartolini on the NCR Millona Factory 07 and journalist Gian Maria Liverani on the New Blue Factory 07 to compete in ProTwins (DDC), Open Class (DSW) in the second round of the European Supertwins Championship. NCR Corse customers Enrico Martini (Millona One Shot), Fabrizio Tinti (Millona One SHot) and Giancarlo Castelli (Millona S).

Valter Bartolini dominated the classes by winning 3 races and while setting an overall track record of 1:57.49 which was 1.4 seconds faster than the previous record set by Andreas Meklau on his Suzuki GSXR 1000 Superbike.Bartolini won the Ducati Desmo Challenge and finished 5 seconds ahead of Ivano Pigliacelli on his Bimota DB5. Bartolini also won the European Supertwins Championship and finished ahead of Liverani on his NCR New Blue. Liverani had an impressive lap time of 2:02.4 on New Blue wich shows the potential of this new motorcycle.

The most interesting and competitive race was in the Open Class with motorcycles from Superbike, Supersprot and Superstock. With the strong running of the hand made NCR millona Factory, Bartolini entered the supreme class with the hope of doing well.

Amazingly, Bartolini won pole in the Open Class and then set out to match that result in the race. At the end of the second lap, Bartolini was in second position and on his way to attack Pellizzon on his Yamaha R1 Superstock. On lap 3, Bartolini managed to take the lead and set the fastest lap of the weekend with a 1:57.4!! After battling strong winds and lapped traffic, Valter Bartolini amazingly finished the race in first place while giving the spectators an exciting race. How can it be? How can a Ducati powered 2 vlave air cooled engine reign supreme in an Open Class? Perhaps there is a great formula in the 40 years that NCR has been crafting its magic.

We would like to thank Bartolini, the NCR Corse team, the NCR racers and the fans for the great success and support. Three victories by Bartolini, a second by Liverani, a fourth for Martini, a fifth for Tinti and a top ten for Castelli. That is five NCR bikes in the top ten!!

We could not have dreamt it any better.

ANDREWS AND ELLEBY IMPROVE AT LAGUNA SECA

Rockwall Honda raced at Laguna Seca this past weekend, with young riders Ryan Elleby and Ryan Andrews competing in the AMA Supersport race. Andrews finished 13th in the Supersport final consisting of one of the largest fields of the season. Elleby crashed out spectacularly in turn 11 on lap 11 after an impressive weekend of improving his lap times.

“I feel like we made lots of progress,” said Andrews. “I feel like we made some big steps forward, even though we didn’t get much track time. We had a decent finish and I was happy with it.”

“We got an okay start and was running at the tail end of a group of about four guys. Then one of them crashed — I think it was Jason Perez — in front of me and I lost a bit of time to that group,” said Andrews. “We were running about the same lap times, so I’d gain a little and lose a little. Then my teammate Ryan Elleby came past me in turn two. He was running fast so I thought it might be our chance to make it back up to those guys in front of us.”

“I saw him get in real deep in turn 11 and then his bike turned sideways,” Andrews continued. “I thought, ‘oh no’ but I had enough room to get by. From there, we finished the race. The team did a great job for us. We didn’t have any mechanical problems this weekend and that’s important in a race like this without a lot of track time. We’re looking forward to going to Ohio and racing there.”

Elleby crashed out, ending a good ride that saw him charge through the field after running wide at the Corkscrew on the first lap. “I lost some positions at the first of the race, but the bike was great and we were climbing through the order,” said Elleby. “Then I crashed in turn 11, as everyone saw. I lost the front, but then I thought I was going to be okay, then I highsided. The crash gave me some bumps and bruises but I’m basically okay. It’s a shame because it was going well up until then. We’ve made some good progress and we’ll keep on working hard at Mid-Ohio.”

He continued: “I’d like to thank Bruce Porter and Arai helmets. Any time you land on your head like that, it’s good to have a great helmet.”

“We had a good weekend,” said Rockwall Honda crew chief Robert Ward. “Ryan Elleby picked up a lot of time in the race. I think we had a really good baseline setup this weekend and we will be good when we come back here for the next race. I think He learned a lot about setup this weekend. Ryan Andrews has come along and is going pretty well, too.”

“I think we’re set to finish the season very strong,” said Ward.

Rockwall Honda will race at Mid-Ohio August 3-5.
