Hopkins Fined $2000 For Kicking At Checa During MotoGP Qualifying At Laguna Seca

Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix United States Grand Prix: decision of the Race Direction On Saturday 21 July, during the MotoGP qualifying practice, the America rider number 21 John Hopkins made a gesture prejudicial to the interest of the sport. According to the article 3.3.1.2 of the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations, the Race Direction has decided to penalise the rider with a fine of USD 2000. No protest has been lodged. The decision of the Race Direction is final. Editorial Note: Hopkins kicked at Carlos Checa during the MotoGP qualifying session Saturday afternoon at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
