British Superbike Officials Turn Qualifying Into Free Practice, Will Grid By Points At Mallory Park

2007 Bennetts British Superbike Championship Rounds 17 & 18 Mallory Park, Leicestershire Sunday 22nd July 2007 Stobart Vent Axia Motorsport riders Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne and Tom Sykes will start tomorrow’s two 30 lap races from the second row of the grid after all qualifying sessions were cancelled for round nine of the Bennetts British Championship at Mallory Park, Leicestershire today. After torrential downpours on Friday and then overnight caused parts of the track to flood, the organisers took the decision to cancel all the qualifying sessions and run free practice sessions instead, with the grid positions determined by Championship position. The first of the Bennetts British Superbike races gets underway at 13.00 with the second one screened live on ITV1 at 15.40. Grid Positions (as per Championship Position) 1, Ryuichi Kiyonari (Honda) 2, Jonathan Rea (Honda) 3, Leon Haslam (Ducati) 4, Gregorio Lavilla (Ducati) 5, Shane Byrne (Stobart Vent Axia Motorsport Honda) 6, Leon Camier (Honda) 7, Tom Sykes (Stobart Vent Axia Motorsport Honda) 8, Chris Walker (Suzuki) 9, Karl Harris (Honda) 10, Tommy Hill (Yamaha)
