Monterey (CA) — AMA Superbike Champion, Ben Spies has retained the services of Douglas Gonda to represent him in an endeavor to seek out new opportunities in world championship racing. The 23-year old factory rider signed a multi-year agreement with Gonda’s sports management company, Protac, Inc. Spies currently leads both the AMA Superbike Series and AMA Superstock series racing for the Yoshimura Suzuki factory team. “I worked with Ben early in his career. Since that time his mother Mary Spies has acted as Ben’s manager. She has done an incredible job for her son and I respect that a lot. When Mary contacted me to help move Ben to the next level, I felt quite honored. Ben’s championship records are impressive. He has natural speed and mentally he is very strong. Of all the young riders in America since 2000, Ben is the most complete road racer I’ve seen,” said Gonda. “I’ve noticed what Doug has done for other riders and teams. So I’m excited to work with him again. My goal is to race at the highest level and I think Doug can help me get there and succeed,” remarked Ben Spies. Mary Spies will continue in her capacity as a principal in Ben’s company.
