Defending USGPRU 125cc National Champion Patrick P.J. Jacobsen and former WERA 125cc National Champion Chris Pyles each earned a pole position during USGPRU qualifying Saturday at Road America.

Young gun Jacobsen, 13, took the 125cc pole position with a time of 2:36.600 on his Celtic Racing Honda RS125.

Pyles posted the best time in the 250cc class, a 2:30.214 on his self-sponsored Yamaha TZ250.

Eddy Brunet, a front runner in the USGPRU 250cc class, qualified third after crashing in turn one, picking his Armour Bodies-sponsored Honda RS250 up out of the gravel and continuing. Brunet, who was not injured, said he was forced to use an old tire in qualifying because the trackside Dunlop vendor did not have any soft-compound front tires for sale.
