Motorcycles Return To Road America Next Weekend

Bikes Return to Road America’s Festival of Speed Elkhart Lake, Wisc. – Bikes return to Road America July 6-8, 2007 when the Championship Cup Series (CCS), American SportBike Racing Association (ASRA) and MOTO-ST bring their action-packed, motorcycle series to the famous 4-mile road course. The Championship Cup Series is known for its adrenaline-pumping, knee-dragging action. The weekend’s Twin Sprints event features six races and three major classes: SuperSport, SuperBike, and Grand Prix. The ASRA Pro Series adds even more to the mix with competition on a more professional level. Fans of endurance events will enjoy the exciting GT classes and Team Challenge Series. The MOTO-ST series features production-based, four-stroke twin cylinder motorcycles, ridden by teams of riders in longer distance events. Sunday’s round at Road America is a 3-hour, 500k endurance race. Each team must have two to three riders. Classes include SuperSport, GrandSport Twins, and Sport Twins. Road America is a favorite venue for riders because of its fast turns, high-speed straight-aways, numerous passing areas, changes in elevation and scenic setting. Spectators like watching the heated competition from the park-like viewing areas, and the controlled chaos of the open paddock. Festival of Speed tickets are available online at www.roadamerica.com or by phone, 800-365-7223. A 3-day ticket is $40; daily admission is $10 Friday, and $20 each for Saturday and Sunday. Gates open at 7 a.m. and races run rain or shine. Road America, a 628-acre year-round motor sports facility. In addition to major race events, Road America offers a motorcycle school, a supermoto school, corporate ATV and karting programs, and two karting clubs.
