American vintage racer Buff Harsh is headed to Spa, Belgium this week to take part in the Bikers Classic scheduled for June 30th-July1st at the 6.97 KM historic Spa Francorchamps Circuit. The Atlanta based rider is mounted on a GP Replica 350 Honda K4 prepared by Lionel Regnat of Grandpuits France. These two combined efforts in 2005 to place 4th and turn qickest race lap in the GP Des Frontieres in Chimay Belgium. The Bikers Classic in Spa could be the most well attended vintage racing meeting in the world. In fact, as well as Giacomo Agostini and his 15 world titles, the huge crowd will be able to rediscover the generous style of Steve Baker, the first American rider to have won a world title. Christian Sarron will be making his big comeback at Spa in the company of Jean-Claude Chemarin, a real living legend in Endurance, just like Alain Genoud who will also be starting off from the foot of the hill. Apart from these confirmed appearances, other exceptional champions are still likely to be joining us in the Ardennes. Even though it is the same weekend as the Assen Grand Prix, a return flight in a helicopter could make it possible for Kenny Roberts Senior to take part in this Classics anniversary. Even though negotiations are still under way with the “KingÂ,” other renowned colossi have been contacted, such as Franco Uncini, Marco Lucchinelli, Johnny Cecotto and Anton Mang! For the Bikers Classics, the new F1 pits will be centre stage. Given the amount of space available, the organisers have had the good idea of suggesting to the teams that they display additional machines. So more than 350 motorbikes of all types will be making the fans happy. The Regnat prepped machine Harsh is riding will be carrying an on-board camera with the intention of providing other classic racers some choice perspectives of the Spa circuit. While Stateside racing for Todd Henning, Harsh is a perrenial AHRMA Dayotna champion(this year in F-250,Sp350,Sp500) and winner of more than 135 classic races sactioned by AHRMA and WERA Vintage. He attributes most of his success to his mentor Todd Henning, “Todd never gave me advice on how best to do a push start,(all classic races in the states are clutch starts) but I think the opportunity to ride the Spa Circuit is motivation enough- I’ll learn.”
