Millnic Media Honda Wins at Miller! – June 18th, 2007 Salt Lake City, Utah The Millnic Media Honda Team of Melissa Paris, Greg White and Steven Breckenridge has accomplished a season long goal in only their third time on the track. On Saturday June 16th in the WERA/AMA National Endurance Series Millnic Media Honda notched its first win of their freshman season. Competing in the Mediumweight Superstock class the 2007 Honda CBR600RR mounted team completed 157 laps around the 3.02 mile Miller Motorsports Park Circuit. Not only did the Millnic Media Honda Team win their class, but were able to complete enough laps to finish 5th overall. Millnic Media Honda’s weekend did not start the way they had hoped when team rider Greg White had an unfortunate incident with another rider during Miller Motorsports Park open track day on Thursday before the race. Greg was transported to the University of Utah’s Trauma center and was out of racing competition for the weekend. Although Greg is OK and expected to return for the next round at Road Atlanta the team needed a replacement rider. Who better than 2006 Formula Xtreme Champion Josh Hayes? Luckily the Honda CBR600RR made it out with only minor damage. A quick change of Vortex Foot pegs, some Honda Genuine Parts and the bike was back on the track by mid days practice. On race day the largest stories were the heat and wind. With temperatures reaching 100 degrees and the wind howling both motorcycle and tire temperatures were a concern. Ultimately the team decided one Dunlop DOT front would do the six hour distance and one rear tire change was all they needed. The strategy worked as the team was able to win their class by some four laps over second placed Team Westby. Once again the Mediumweight Superstock (MSS) class had the highest number of entries. Fourteen of the races thirty six motorcycles (39% of bikes on track) were competing in the hotly contested MSS class. The Endurance stints were divided up equally amongst the three riders with Steven starting for the team, Melissa doing the pull in the middle and Josh the anchor. At the end of the day Millnic Media Honda was just one lap and two positions away from finishing in the top three. There were slight modifications done to the CBR600RR since round two of the series. Millnic Media Honda installed a new LeoVince Corsa Ti exhaust, DynoJet Power Commander and quick shifter for more power and less time shifting. At the time of publication for this press release current points were not available; however, going into round 3 Millnic Media Honda was 5th in class points. Without question the win by MMH Racing will shake things up in the upper echelon of the points system. It was noted that the success of the team was due in large part to all those who participated this weekend. Thanks to Stacey and Wyatt Foster for the help as well as Josh Hayes for filling in as rider. Also Greg would like extend a special thank you to all the corner workers, and ambulance staff at Miller Motorsports Park and the good folks at Air Med and University of Utah’s Trauma Unit. “All of those folks made the three day stay in the hospital a true delight.” The next round for the WERA/AMA National Endurance Series is Road Atlanta’s Cycle Jam June 29 & 30th. Make sure to stop by and say hello to Melissa, Greg, Steven and Josh. More, from a press release issued by LOC Endurance: L.O.C. Endurance took third place aboard a 2007 Yamaha R6 in the hotly contested Middleweight Superstock class of the WERA National Endurance series after a nerve racking 6 hour race at the beautiful Miller Motorsports Park. The L.O.C made the long trip out to Utah spending extra time running a full day of practice on Thursday to ensure all riders were up to speed. The seat time paid off as the green flag dropped Team L.O.C number one rider Jimmy Vanderhaar ran a pace that put the team in a dead heat with Millnic Media Honda and put several laps on the rest of the field as the first pit stops were signaled. Quick work in the pits put number two rider Dan Carr back on track with the class lead and 10 laps into his stint steady times stretched the lead to more than a lap on second position Millnic Media. After a stop for fuel and a fresh rear tire, J.B Layman set out with a slight lead only giving away a few seconds a lap to substitute Millnic rider AMA Champion Josh Hayes. Layman showed impressive speed for his second race aboard the Bridgestone shod Yamaha R6 and got progressively faster throughout his shift moving the team ahead a full lap in class again and into 5th overall after Hayes pitted. Disaster struck however 55 minutes into Layman’s ride when he lost the front and went down. Frantic pit repairs cost 4 laps and moved the dejected team into 12th overall and 4th in class. Vanderhaar climbed aboard a roughed up R6 and showed his resolve yet again by passing Dalke Motorsports to climb back into 3rd in class. Pit strategy revealed that there was a possibility of catching 2nd in class Team Westby and with thirty minutes left Dan Carr brought the bike in for fuel and to hand over the bike to Vanderhaar again. Eyes were glued to the pit monitors as Vanderhaar, shown 37+ seconds back of Team Westby’s 213 bike started eating away at the lead. Running consistent 2:03 lap times, Vanderhaar setup a dramatic end catching Westby with less than two minutes to go. After almost 6 hours Vanderhaar set the team’s fastest lap of the race on the last lap a 2:02.6, once again showing the Bridgestone front tire’s superiority in endurance racing. Unfortunately time ran out before Vanderhaar was able to make the pass stick and the results went back to the previous lap showing L.O.C Third in class half a second back of Team Westby and 9th overall after close to six hours of racing. The team leaves Miller with mixed emotions, having been in good shape to take the win, and the points lead with a probable third place finish by Westby. But it was not to be and we were lucky to have a podium finish and valuable points having crashed in the ultra competitive Middleweight Superstock class. Congratulations to a well ridden victory by both Millnic Media Honda and Team Westby. We look forward to the next round at team favorite Road Atlanta in two weeks. The team would like to wish Greg White a speedy recovery and return to competition, and a heartfelt wish that Josh Hayes goes back to his day job. More, from a press release issued by Bp Concepts: WERA Middleweight Superbike endurance team bp concepts backed up their 1st in class and 4th overall finish from Barber, to an exciting 1st in class and 3rd overall during round 3 at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah aboard their Crosley 2007 GSXR 600, placing them 1st in class points and 3rd overall in points behind Vesrah Suzuki and Team Velocity. Brandon Parrish comments: “It was an up and down weekend. We started off with mapping problems due to the change in altitude and struggled to get good clean power off the bottom of our NPSracing.com motor. We finally got it dialed in during the last practice session on Saturday morning swapping maps all around and changing them back and fourth. As usual riders Bo LeMastus, and Andy Feuersthaler were in attendance and for round 3 our fourth rider Ben Thompson was able to make it out to Miller to help us with the first 6 hour event. I started off the race maintaining a good pace, placing us 4th overall and 1st in class with a little over an hour for the first stint. Next out was Ben who had a solid stint maintaining our position and bringing it back in for Bo. Bo went out and rode the best stint of his season thus far also maintaining position and staying on the track for a little over an hour. Andy went out for the fourth stint and after two laps the race was red flagged. We were slightly bummed because we had a fairly good lead over our competitors Suzuki Rider Development and we knew if there were no red flags we could finish up with two more pit stops and they would have 3. However during the restart Suzuki Rider development got ahead of us and Andy rode an awesome stint to stay close to them on a 3 and a half hour old rear tire which he chose to run on because he wanted Ben and I to have a new rear for the last two hours. Andy came in and I put a new rear on with a super fast stop to put Ben out with an hour and a half to go. Ben rode awesome setting the fastest time in our class and pulling about a one minute and forty second lead over the Suzuki Rider Development team leaving me with about 20 minutes to finish it up. Ben came in and we put about two gallons of fuel in and I went out to maintain our 3rd overall and 1st in class finish. We are excited that so far our team has ridden flawlessly, our bike has performed perfect, and we are sitting in 3rd overall in points and 1st in class points. We can’t thank our sponsors enough for the opportunity to have the best equipment on the market.”
