More than 100 people gathered at a Chattanooga, Tennessee pizza parlor this week to help raise money for Red Bull Rookie Cup racer Kris Turner, one of the three American riders competing in the European series and the only one of the three to finish on the podium so far. Held at Happy Days Pizza and Ice Cream on Highway 58, Turner’s friends and supporters put $738 into a water jug on the evening of June 13 to help the teenager chase his dream of road racing on the world stage. The money will go toward the cost of a rental car and insurance while Turner and his father are in Europe for nearly a month. Turner, who will turn 15 later this month, is set to depart June 20 on the month-long, three-race swing through Europe. The fundraiser was organized by Turner fans and supporters Jamey Edmondson and Bill Spight, and former road racers Kevin Rentzell and Deano Swims showed up for the festivities.
