New contingency dollars brings top-level competition to Miller Motorsports Park round three of the Masters of the Mountains series. Tooele County, UT — Round three of the 2007 Honda Presents the Plaza Cycle Masters of the Mountains race series at Miller Motorsports Park saw top-level competition from the entire field of more than 110 racers. The King of the Mountain GTO class produced some of the most exciting racing seen to date at the new Miller Motorsports Park. Chad Lewin, Jason Perez and MoM #1 plate-holder Aaron Clark diced the entire 14 laps within half-a-second of each other, trading places more than 20 times. On lap 12, Perez made his move and passed Lewin, bringing Clark with him into second. On the final lap, Clark got a strong drive out of the Tooele turn, drafting Perez and carrying too much speed into Clubhouse, with Clark running wide and into the dirt. Lewin took advantage of Clark’s mistake, taking second position to the flag with Clark re-entering the track to hold on to third. The success of the new MoM series is showcased by strong races in the Novice and Amateur classes, with youngster Shane McGoey sweeping all four GTU and GTO classes. Novice and Amateur GTU saw impressive lap times from the top-eight finishers, demonstrating development of local talent thanks to MMP’s commitment to motorcycle racing. The entry-level Clubman class produced a great opportunity for 12 new racers to gain track experience and showcase their skills, with Dusty Beckstrom running an 1:42.896 best lap to win race 2.
