HANNspree Ten Kate Honda set to fight back at Misano World Supersport Championship Round eight: Misano, San Marino Monday 11 June 2007 Event preview The Republic of San Marino will play host to the eighth round of the 2007 World Supersport Championship at Misano this weekend. Following a disappointing wet race at Silverstone two weeks ago that saw two no finishes for HANNspree Ten Kate Honda, the team is ready to fight back. Despite crashing out of the seventh round in the UK, Kenan Sofuoglu still leads the championship by an impressive 45 points ahead of Fabien Foret. With the change in track direction at the 4.6km Misano circuit, the Turkish rider is well aware of the challenge he faces. However, he is confident that he can get his winning streak back on track. Sébastien Charpentier’s season looked set to improve when he set the fastest Supersport lap ever recorded at Silverstone. In the end, the wet weather hindered his race progress, however the Frenchman remains positive and is now even more determined to finish the championship in a good position and support his team-mate’s campaign. Ronald ten Kate, Team Manager: “Silverstone obviously didn’t bring us the results we were looking for. Although we were quite dominant in the dry, this didn’t pay off in the wet race. With Misano being a new track for us we are all looking forward to working hard and getting the right set up on the bikes as quickly as possible. That is the key for two strong finishes, particularly in the hot conditions of Misano.” Kenan Sofuoglu: “I’ve been preparing for Misano in the same way as I prepare for every race. I’ve been working on my fitness and trying to get ready for racing in the hot conditions of San Marino. I am not so worried about the new direction of the track. I had never ridden at Donington Park before this year and I got the race win there so I will just approach Misano in the same way. I am looking forward to the race and hopefully putting the events of Silverstone behind me. As always, I will just try to do my best.” Sébastien Charpentier: “Although the track is new this year at Misano, I don’t think it is a problem. We are all more or less in the same situation and I am not too worried. I am hoping that it has improved the circuit and for me, whether I have to turn right or left, it is the same. I will just try my best in the circumstances. I am hoping for good weather so I can put in a good performance to claim some points for the team.”
