Pietri, 61 More, from a press release issued by Team M4 EMGO Suzuki: MAY SECOND AFTER TOUGH INFINEON RACEWAY BATTLE Team M4 EMGO Suzuki concluded the Infineon Raceway weekend on a high note, claiming their best finish thus far in the 2007 AMA season. Geoff May piloted his powerful Suzuki GSX-R1000 to a fantastic second-place finish in the Superstock race following an intense 17-lap race to the checkered flag. The Georgian got an ideal launch off the line and powered into first place. He continued to fight with the lead pack before slowly settling into third position. May found himself under assault late in the race by former AMA Superbike champion Ben Bostrom, and when former class champion Aaron Yates crashed out of second, May’s battle was elevated to one for the second step on the podium. Geoff cleverly mixed up his lines on the final lap in a defensive fashion, and set himself up perfectly to reclaim the runner-up finishing position exiting the race’s final corner after Bostrom made an attempt to steal the spot away on the brakes. “My M4 EMGO Suzuki was running real strong today,” May said. “We found a little something yesterday and it paid off towards the end of the race. I was able to ride it hard and have more confidence. I could feel Ben on me at the end; I could hear him. I wasn’t about to give it up easily. I rode an ultra-defensive line and pretty much made it impossible for him to pass me and make it stick. The bike and the Pirelli tires were great. They let me ride the way I needed in order to hold the position.” May also put in a strong ride in the Supersport race, finishing seventh aboard his GSX-R600 in the red-flagged shortened final that was called complete after 14 of the scheduled 17 laps. Colombian Martin Cardenas performed impressively in a substitute capacity for Team M4 EMGO Suzuki, taking 12th while filling in at late notice for the injured Michael Barnes, who broke his right wrist at the circuit on Saturday. Youngster Michael Beck failed to finish the race. Team M4 EMGO Suzuki will be back in action in two weeks time as the AMA championship picks back up on June 1-3 at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI.
