In his second-ever session on the famed Monza racetrack and riding a machine he had never seen prior to the start of practice, 2006 FMV Venezuelan Superbike Champion and 2006 FIM Latin American Superbike Champion Robertino Pietri qualified 16th out of 35 for Sunday’s Italian Superbike Championship race. Luca Conforti took pole on a Honda CBR1000RR at 1:48.591; Pietri’s best time was 1:52.991. Pietri was 13th in the order until late in the session. He finished 10th in AMA Superstock last weekend at California Speedway in Fontana, California on a Roadracingworld.com Suzuki GSX-R1000.
