With Team Stargel Yamaha rider Brian Stokes recovering from injuries sustained before the AMA Daytona kick off, team owner Rocky Stargel has brought Daytona team substitute rider, Tony Meiring, to ride at this weekend’s Barber Round. Stargel commented, “Tony did a fantastic job for us at Daytona. He came in with no time on our bikes and impressed us with his work ethic, his desire to produce and his professionalism and he did the job. Brian is still sidelined so the choice was obvious.” Team Stargel Yamaha and Meiring will be competing in Formula Xtreme and Supersport on the Michelin shod Stargel R6s. “We have been working non-stop since Daytona to give Tony the best weapon with which to compete. Leo Vince, all the guys at BRC and Kevin at KWS have given us considerable help to bring our best to the track. Anyone who thinks Xtreme and Supersport are easy classes need only look at who we’re up against. Josh Hayes is running great, the M4 EMGO guys are running hungry and all the teams are out to show the racing world who is best. It’s a huge challenge and we’re not a huge team but we’re going in to show everyone we’re a force.” commented Stargel
