WSMC Racer Chris McCauley, R.I.P.

Racer Chris McCauley, 45, of Misson Viejo, California, died April 16 from injuries he sustained in a WSMC race April 15 at Willow Springs International Raceway. McCauley, who was an experienced racer returning from a racing hiatus, was in a close, two-way battle for the lead of the 651cc-Open Novice race when he crashed in ultra-high-speed turn eight. He was airlifted from the track to UCLA Medical Center were he passed away last night. He is survived by his wife, Christine, and three children.
