One result of the changes in AMA Pro Road Racing management is that crews are no longer thrown out of the garages at Daytona International Speedway one hour after on-track activity ends, a decades-long requirement that has long irritated mechanics with work to do on racebikes, especially if a bike has been crashed. The new AMA Pro Road Racing management negotiated extended garage hours, with crews allowed to continue working until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday of the AMA week at the Speedway. The change was significant; under the old Speedway policy, crews would have been ordered out of the garages by 6:50 p.m. on Wednesday, by 5:50 p.m. on Thursday and by about 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Registration hours have also been extended, with registration opening at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday and at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.
