In collaboration with Jerry Wood of J. Wood & Company Auctioneers And Liquidators, TREASURE HD will present the first-ever live television coverage of the J. WOOD DAYTONA ANTIQUE & CLASSIC MOTORCYCLE AUCTION, the nation’s oldest and best sale of its kind, now celebrating its 20th anniversary. The auction, which attracts thousands of enthusiasts each year, is a highlight at the world’s biggest annual bike rally, Daytona Bike Week, and will air gavel-to-gavel on March 9th, 1 pm-8 pm ET on VOOM’s TREASURE HD, available nationally on the DISH satellite network, channel 9473. Walt Willey, popular star of All My Children, will host the auction, with color and analysis provided by daredevil Roman Nowak of A&E’s Knievel Wild Ride and by Brian Slark, cycle historian and technical advisor to the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, the largest such institution in North America. TREASURE HD is setting the stage for this much-anticipated affair with an exclusive hour-long preview show, premiering March 3 at 1 PM ET. Filmed on location at the Barber museum in Birmingham, Alabama, the show offers a look at the history of the J. Wood sale, considered the preeminent auction of its kind; information on collecting classic motorcycles; highlights of the auction; an overview of key names in motorcycle manufacturing, including Indian, Harley, Vincent, Ducati, Triumph; and a look at the Barber museum. The special includes interviews with Jerry Wood, the Barber’s executive director, Jeff Ray, and technical advisor Brian Stark. VOOM’s TREASURE HD will further prep viewers with an encore episode of Top 20 Tips for Collecting: Antique Motorcycles, from the channel’s signature series Collective Intelligence. The auction will feature a bounty of bikes to bid on, including a host of Triumphs, Harleys, Vincents, Nortons and Hondas, dating from the ’50 ’70s, as well as models going back to the early part of the century. Wannabe cycle collectors will want to have deep pockets, as last year’s auction generated close to $1,000,000 in sales. More than 85% of the cycles are being offered “no reserve,” meaning, they will sell to the highest bidder at the event, with no minimum initial bid. Following are details about some of the most coveted rides that will be in play during TREASURE HD’s coverage of the Daytona Antique & Classic Motorcycle Auction (full details can be found at www.jwoodandcompany.com). * The Jeffrey Glasserow Collection More than 20 notable vintage bikes from the estate of noted collector Jeffery Glasserow will be on the block, all at “no reserve.” Included are three vintage Indians including a 1934 Indian Racer used to set a Bonneville speed record at 127.34 mph, a 1935 Indian Racer and a 1938 Indian Sports Scout Bobber. Also included are a 1960 Harley Davidson KRTT Roadracer which Rusty Lowery rode to four AHRMA National Championships, a 1950 Egli Vincent, a 1955 Harley Davidson KHRM Café Special, a 1959 Ducati 450 Scrambler and more; * George Roeder’s Harley Davidson XRTT Roadracer The late, great AMA racer George Roeder personally built this one-of-a-kind item with a works chassis given to him by the Harley Davidson racing department and an engine and parts used during his racing days; * Vincent Black Shadow C Series 1953 The “Holy Grail” of motorcycle collectors, the most coveted collectible ride from cycling’s golden era. This auction item was restored by Mike White; * 1926 Moto Guzzi c2v 500 cc Road Racer A favorite in its day, this visually appealing and coveted model was beautifully restored in Italy. * 1956 Harley Davidson KHK with Goulding Rocket Sidecar — The KHK models were put through the Harley racing department for high performance modifications and are extremely rare.
