2007 Conference Meetings The 2007 FIM Conference Meetings took place from 15 to 18 February, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel near Geneva Airport. The Management Council convened on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 and the afternoon of Sunday 18. The main subjects discussed by the Management Council were the following: – The FIM will be the promoter of the Endurance World Championship Series in collaboration with the organisers and FMNRs. The TV and commercial rights were returned by the FIM to the organisers for the 2007 season. Administration, the running of events and media aspects will be taken care of by the FIM. -. Following the decision of the Enduro and Cross-Country Rallies Commission to create an Enduro Indoor competition, a meeting was held two weeks ago with the organisers of Enduro Indoor events (Barcelona and Genova). An Enduro Indoor World Cup will be run next winter, as from December 1st until two weeks before the 2008 Enduro World Championship starts. A minimum of three events will be planned. Local organisers and the FIM will be in charge together of the promotion/organisation. – The Management Council discussed and agreed on an increase of subsidies to be transferred to the Continental Unions. The FIM is redistributing one third of its financial income from TV and commercial rights in the form of subsidies, funds for development projects and direct payments to its National Federations and Continental Unions. – A working group will be established in order to study Alternative Energies; the President of this working group will be the FIM Vice-President Robert Rasor (USA). – Important changes to the Statutes were proposed and are under current study. The main change concerns the election system for FIM Vice-Presidents, and aims at avoiding the current situation whereby two posts of Vice-Presidents are vacant because candidates did not obtain the minimum of 50% of the votes + 1, as requested by the Statutes; in the second ballot, for three posts available only one candidate was elected at the 2006 FIM Congress in Salvador, Brazil. – A new FIM logo was selected by the Management Council members, following the mandate given to the Council by the 2006 General Assembly to modernize the FIM logo. A brand manual will now have to be defined before the new logo can officially be launched and become operational for the FIM, its affiliated members and stakeholders.
