Former Italian rider Paolo Pileri died last Tuesday in Terni, Italy. He was 62 years old. Paolo Pileri was born on July 31, 1944 in Terni. He scored his first Grand Prix points in 1973 (Austria) riding a DRS. In 1974 he started to ride for Morbidelli. A second place in Brno (CZE) showed the potential of the motorcycle. In 1975, Paolo Pileri won the 125cc World title achieving not less than seven consecutive wins on the 125cc Morbidelli: Grand Prix of Spain, Austria, Germany, Italy, the Dutch TT, Belgium and Sweden, and a third place in France. In 1976, Paolo Pileri finished the Championship in third, with four second places (Austria, Italy, Dutch TT and Belgium), two third places (Yugoslavia and Sweden) and a fifth place (Finland). He also raced in the 250cc class, in 1973, 74 and 75 with Yamaha, and as from 76 with the 250cc Morbidelli, but it was not so easy as in the 125cc: one second place in 1976 (Belgium), only a 9th place and 2 points in 1977 (Finland); Pileri achieved his only win in the 250cc in Belgium in 1978. He rode one more season on a Yamaha (third in Belgium and 7th in Italy). More, from another press release issued by FIM: Former German sidecar passenger Wolfgang Kalauch died last Wednesday in Waldbröl, Germany. He was 78 years old. Wolfgang Kalauch was born on January 20, 1929. During his career, he was sidecar passenger of Helmut Fath during the seasons 1968 and 1969. In 1968 the team obtained the World title with the famous URS sidecar, winning the races in Nürburgring, Imatra and Hockenheim. In 1970, Wolfgang Kallauch was passenger of Klaus Enders during six of the eight races of the season; they obtained three wins together (France, Tourist Trophy, Czechoslovakia) and the World title. As from 1971, Kalauch was passenger of Siefried Schauzu; they finished second of the Sidecar World Championship in 1971, third in 72, 73 and 74, 20th in 1975 and 5th in 1976. In 1977, Wolfgang Kalauch went to race with Rolf Steinhausen.
