The 2007 SunTrust MOTO-ST Series to Include Road America DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 8, 2007) America’s newest motorcycle road racing series will take to one of America’s premier road courses this year when the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series makes its debut at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., July 7 and 8. Round 4 of this season’s series, the Road America 500K will pay both series points and an overall purse of $35,000.00. “We are really excited about being able to debut our new Series at Road America,” explains Roger Edmondson, President of Grand-Am, which provides administration and commercial support for MOTO-ST. “Our goal is to build this series in much the same method we have used for our Grand Am Series and running at Road America is another strong step toward reaching our goal.” Weaving its way through four miles of Wisconsin’s picturesque countryside, Road America is one of the most historical road race courses in the country. Opened in 1955, this world-renowned track has hosted numerous events throughout the years including, the Champ Car World Series, AMA Superbike, NASCAR, SCCA Sprints, vintage racing and much more. A great favorite with both riders and fans, Road America draws a wide base of spectators from all over the country and is the perfect facility to introduce fans to the all new professional SunTrust MOTO-ST Series. Running in conjunction with the Championship Cup Series (CCS), the SunTrust MOTO-ST race at Road America will give motorcycle fans a chance to witness the incredible skills of some of the best two-wheeled team riders in the world. Not only will action abound on the track, but also in the pits as teams change riders and refuel throughout the race. In addition to Road America, this year’s SunTrust MOTO-ST Series will include the Daytona 500K, March 3-4 at Daytona International Speedway, the Homestead 500K, April 13-14 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, the VIR 500K, April 27-29 at Virginia International Speedway, the Iowa Speedway 500K, July 7-8 at Iowa Speedway and the 8 Hours At Daytona Finale, October 19-20 at Daytona International Speedway. MOTO-ST is organized and sanctioned by Professional Motorsports Productions (PMP) of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and the Grand American Road Racing Association, based in Daytona Beach, Fla., provides the series with administrative and commercial support. The MOTO-ST advisory board features some of the most respected individuals in the world of motorsports, including AMA Hall of Fame members, respected motorcycle racing journalists and renowned officials from various forms of road racing.
