Road Race Southwest (~http://www.roadracesw.com~) and Sandia Motorcycle Racing Inc (~http://www.smri-racing.org~) have teamed up to present the 2007 Southwest Vintage Cup road race series. Following the tremendous success of last December’s Classic Superbike and Vintage GP Sprints, which were held in conjunction with Road Race Southwest’s final round, a decision was made to form a new four-race series for the 2007 race season. Two races will be hosted by Road Race Southwest and two races will be hosted by Sandia Motorcycle Racing Inc. The dates for the series are: February 18, 2007 @ Firebird Raceway (West circuit), RRSW July 14-15, 2007 @ Sandia Raceway, SMRI August 4-5, 2007 @ Sandia Raceway, SMRI November 4, 2007 @ Firebird Raceway (Main circuit), RRSW Vintage class rules developed at SMRI will govern the racing and class structure. Motorcycles built through the 1978 model year are eligible to enter Historic Vintage classes. Historic Vintage will be subdivided into Lightweight, Middleweight, and Heavyweight classifications. Modifications allowed in HV classes must be period appropriate. Most motorcycles built through 1983 are eligible to enter Super Vintage. Super Vintage has displacement and configuration limits but are allowed unlimited modification. More information on the Southwest Vintage Cup series, and a complete listing of class rules and entry procedures may be found at: ~http://www.roadracesw.com/vintage.html~ or ~http://www.smri-racing.org~
