FIRST PERSON/OPINION Via e-mail: In regards to this story on Dave Moss ~http://roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=27872~ I’m not a very good writer so I’ll have to keep it short, but I would like to give an update to you in hopes that it will find its way into your pages. Dave is one of my primary sponsors and good friend as well, so when the news came out that the insurance company would not be helping Dave recoupe the contents of his trailer due to lack of receipts and or pictures of the contents, we decided it was time to start a fund raiser to try and save Dave’s business. The grass roots effort has taken off and the motorcycling community has spoken, with donations of tools and money. Certainly by now somewhere near $2000-$3000, which is great but when the contents of the trailer were itemized and priced out we came to a total loss of over $24,000. In order to organize the relief effort there has been a webpage set up on Dave’s site to try and keep duplicate donations of tools down to a minimum. Directions on how to help out are on the page and we are encouraging monetary donations as we have already had instances of duplicate donations. ~http://www.feelthetrack.com/trailer.html~ My reason for sending you this e-mail is because Dave would never solicit donations for himself, it was actually difficult for him to accept the initial donations as they started coming in. But he realized very quickly that this is what the motorcycle community wanted for him and he would not be back in business had the community not come forward.
