There’s an interesting Fastrack Riders track day going on today at California Speedway, in Fontana, California, as AMA factory Superbike teams are testing, AMA factory Superbike racers are riding for fun on personal bikes and other professional teams and racers are preparing for WERA West races scheduled for Sunday. Kawasaki Road Racing Team is at the 2.36-mile track running a test on the electronics package on its ZX-10R AMA Superbike. Rather than Roger Hayden or Jamie Hacking, Kawasaki Motors Corporation research and development rider Derek Keyes, who is also a successful club racer, is handling the test riding duties. Yamaha factory Superbike rider Jason DiSalvo is in attendance and making laps around the infield road course today on his personal 2004 YZF-R1 Superstock bike. “I just came out to ride for the lack of anything better to do,” DiSalvo told Roadracingworld.com. “But when you think about it, what else is there to do that’s better than riding.” DiSalvo said he would race on Sunday. The Matsushima Suzuki AMA Superstock and Supersport team, based in nearby Upland, California, is at California Speedway with riders Danny Eslick and Blake Young. “We’re here to test our new GSX-R600s and get ready for the races tomorrow,” said Eslick. “We’re using this as a test since we don’t get to go to the big team tests. We’re just feeling out our new Showa suspension. We went to Buttonwillow and tested a month ago and had a blast. It’s going to take some getting used to, but I really like it.” AMA team Safety First Suzuki is also testing at the track with its new riders Bobby Fong and Scott Ryan. Other professional racers riding Saturday in preparation for Sunday’s races were: Team Roadracingworld.com Suzuki’s Chris Ulrich, Rojo Racing’s Jason Perez, Lee’s Cycles’ Jeremy Toye, San Jose BMW’s Brian Parriott, BMW Motorcycles of Las Vegas’ Nate Kern, Hawk Mazzotta and Corey Sarros, among others.
