The team will continue its participation the AMA Supersport and Formula Xtreme classes with new riders Bobby Fong and Scott Ryan piloting 2007 Suzuki GSXR 600’s Sixteen year-old Bobby Fong hails from Stockton, CA. Despite his young age, Bobby already has already seen success on the flat track, AFM sanctioned events and Supermoto racing. Bobby has held several Number 1 plates during his dirt track career and is excited about competing in his first full AMA season this year. In his first year of racing at 6 years of age, he obtained a #1 plate in the 50cc class. Bobby then garnered several dirt track championships before embarking on roadracing in 2004 where he won every race he entered in the SMRRC mini road racing series. In 2005, Bobby became AFM Novice Champion, which was quickly followed by two AFM 600 championships in 2006 while competing against several past and current AMA racers in the ultra competitive AFM series. Scott Ryan, a 23 year-old Lemont, IL native, is a common site at CCS events, with the occasional foray into AMA races. Scott competed in several AMA races last year and is anticipating a break out year in his first full season of AMA competition. Scott’s background had him previously competing in the AMA Supercross and Motocross series before suffering a serious injury at the Daytona Supercross event. Since making the switch to roadracing, Scott has enjoyed great success while competing in WERA, CCS and AMA events. He also serves as an instructor for Super Dave Rosno’s Visionsports Riding School. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, the team moved the Safety First Racing shop, formerly known as 4&6 Racing, from Skokie, IL to a state of the art facility in Arlington Heights, IL. Team owner, Kevin Hanson, voiced his enthusiasm regarding the move. “We moved into a 4,400 sq. foot facility that has offices, showroom and a huge work area that has allowed us to expand our ability to dynotune bikes, manufacture custom parts and be more efficient building/maintaining racebikes.” “Basically, 4&6 Racing has been absorbed under Safety First Racing with all employees now contracted to Safety First Racing,” stated Hanson. Jim Rashid will continue to serve as Crewchief and seasoned engine builder Ed Hilton will remain back in Chicago at the raceshop. Safety First Suzuki was formed in 2004 by police officer/racer, Kevin Hanson, based out of Chicago, IL.
