Attack Kawasaki’s Damon Buckmaster will not need surgery to repair his fractured right wrist, the Australian rider learned Tuesday. Buckmaster suffered a fracture to his right ulna (at the wrist end) and a sprained wrist when the AMA Superstock qualifying session he was riding in ran head-on into a downpour of rain September 30 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, causing him and two other riders to crash instantly. Buckmaster underwent an MRI exam Tuesday in Southern California and was later informed by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Thomas Bryan that the fracture would not require surgery and should heal naturally within a few weeks. Buckmaster, who is looking for a ride for 2007, plans to make his normal off-season return to his home in Australia on Sunday, October 8.
