The start of AMA practice at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course was delayed over an hour Friday morning. Pro Honda Oils AMA Supersport Presented by Shoei practice was scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. local time. The first bikes went on track at 9:52 a.m. local time. The delay was caused due to the clean up of mud and water from several areas of the track, although AMA Pro Racing officials have not offered an official explanation for the delay. Friday morning practice sessions for Supersport, Superbike, Formula Xtreme and Superstock have been shortened from 60 minutes to 45 minutes each to make up for the lost time. The start of Friday morning practice at the August 4-6, 2006 AMA Superbike event at Mid-Ohio was also delayed over an hour due to a last-minute clean-up.
