American Red Bull Rookies Cup Finalists Have To Pay Their Own Expenses To Seven European MotoGP Races

The parents of the three young Americans selected for the 2007 Red Bull Rookies Cup have been told that they will have to pay their own way to the seven MotoGP rounds where the Rookies Cup events will run. The Red Bull Rookies Cup program provides motorcycles and mechanics for riders, but paying for air fare, rental cars, hotel and other expenses falls upon the young contestants and their parents. Running the program in 2007 could easily cost the family of a selected U.S. kid between $35,000 and $50,000. At this point it’s not clear if the kids will get any signage rights on the bikes or their leathers, which could be used to raise funds from U.S. sponsors. Stay tuned.
