Ludt Wins Three GP Moto Premier Races at VIR

On Labor Day 2006, racers converged at the beautiful VIR to contest in the 4th of 5 GP Moto Premier racing events. Under an overcast sky, some of the best racing action of the season was on hand in all the classes. Greg Ludt, a former winner, wasted no time in getting up to speed by claiming the GP Moto A race win ahead of Bill Drummond and Zsolt Veres. In GP Unlimited, it was Ludt again, this time over Lukas Frkous and Antal Halasz. William Reyes topped the GP Lite race for his first race win ahead of Anthony Anderson. GP Moto B again saw Ludt crossing the line in first place, ahead of Alex Marshall. That left Antal Halasz, Zsolt Veres and David Archbold fighting for the last step on the podium, and finishing in that order. The 5th race of the day was the premier GP Dash for Cash race. For the first time this year it was run over 10 laps, which proved to be a tougher test for riders and machines alike. Right off the start Antal Halasz grabbed the lead with Greg Ludt, Zsolt Veres, Alex Marshall and Brian Ackerman in close pursuit. Halasz and Ludt pulled away from the rest of the race, and by mid race were battling by themselves. Every single lap Ludt would draft past Halasz on the straight only to have Halasz reclaiming turn 1 under braking. Lead changes were plenty and action was fierce. On lap 8 however, Ludt over shot turn 7 and effectively handed the race win to Halasz. Veres rode a lonely third in the second half of the race, while Ackerman tried all his best to close in on Marshall, and falling just short at the end. It was some of the most exciting racing we had ever seen, and we hope our racers can keep the action going on 10/16 at Summit Point Raceway, for the 5th GP Moto Premier Racing Event of 2006.
