The start of AMA practice was delayed Saturday morning at Road Atlanta due to a damp racing surface caused by overnight rains. It is not raining at Road Atlanta, and as of 9:30 a.m. local time, crews are currently working to expedite the drying of the surface. AMA Superstock practice was scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. A new, tentative start time of 9:35 a.m. has been announced. AMA Pro Racing hopes to make up some of the lost time by reducing the breaks between sessions. The weather forecast for Saturday and Sunday continues to call for partly cloudy skies, a 20% chance of isolated rain showers on both days and high temperatures in the mid-80s on both days.
