Three riders reported thefts of credit cards and cash from their wallets following AMA Supersport practice early Friday morning at Road Atlanta. Brandon Parrish, Dave Rosno and Skip Salenius all had items stolen from their individual pit areas during the practice session, which ran from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday. Fraudulent purchases were then made using the cards at the same local stores — Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Dick’s Sporting Goods early Friday morning. “They stole my debit card and a $100 bill,” Salenius told Roadracingworld.com Friday. “I got dressed to go out in the session at 8:15 a.m., and the purchases were made on my stolen card before 9:00 a.m.” “I reported it to the track, and they called the police for us,” said Parrish, who had one of his three credit cards stolen and $1000 of purchases charged on the card at local stores. “The track called us back when the police got here so we didn’t have to wait on them, so the track’s been super nice.” “I honestly thought I misplaced them, then I got a call from the fraud protection people at my credit card company,” said Rosno, who had two of his five credit cards stolen between 8:30 and 8:50 a.m. “Then I got a call from the second credit card company. They had to have been scoping us out because they had such a small window of opportunity.” Similar thefts occurred during the AMA Superbike event at Road Atlanta in 2005. AMA Pro Racing officials said they were aware of the thefts and were warning riders to secure their valuables. Officials with Road Atlanta were not available for comment at post time.
