Assen in 2000 Alex Barros was the first to cross the checkered flag in the MotoGP race. At the upcoming weekend from 1rst to 3rd of September Alex Barros attacks at Assen again with his Klaffi Honda Fireblade. The Dutch round of World’s Superbike Championship is and will remain an absolute recipe for success, because racing fans are treated to lots of complimentary extras. Sunday will be a racing day with 6 races all in all. Breath taking stunt rides and a pit walk are scheduled during the break. On Thursday afternoon the visit of the paddock is free of charge. And Alex will be there at the paddock show for an autograph session. In order to make the construction of the theme park “TT World” possible, the North Loop was shortened. With the changes of the track a number of the fast curves have been removed, such as the Haarbocht, Madijk, Ossebroeken and Strubben. At the renewed and shorter Assen TT Circuit the fans will see their favourites race for 21 rounds as opposed to 16 on the old circuit. Alex Barros: “žI know Assen very well. During the last years I took part in many races there with different bikes. Now they changed the course a little bit and I think I prefer the old style of the track. But this version now is new for all of the riders. I hope the team made all the changes I asked for. Apart from this I’m looking forward to ride at Assen again.” Teammanager Klaus Klaffenböck: “žAlex Barros only knows a part of the track. The modified section is completely new for him. At Assen World’s Superbike Championship starts into its last third of the season. We are well prepared and our target is to improve our 5th position in the standings of the championship.”
