On Saturday, July 29, the Renton Motorcycles Seattle 100 benefit track day event did something it has never done before: for the first time in its short four-year history, it broke $100,000 in donations. Aaron Yates, Aaron Gobert, Josh Hayes, Jake Holden, and actor/comedian David Alan Grier were on hand to lend their support this year, and were surely a big reason for this year’s record-breaking success. “The event could hardly have gone any better, and we were pretty sure prior to Saturday that we would break $100,000 dollars this year” said Brian Orton, the event’s Director and Founder. He is also co-owner of 2Fast Motorcycle Track Days & Instruction (www.2-fast.org), the Northwest track day organization that puts on the event. “Even though we’re limited each year to a maximum of just 100 participating riders, those 100 participants are incredibly committed. And this year was no exception. Yates, Gobert, Hayes and Holden were fantastic guests this year, and we owe them and all of our past Seattle 100 racing celebs a big thanks for where we’ve come to.” Aaron Yates, a first time attendee of the Seattle 100, had the following to say. “I had heard of the event, but never really knew what it was about. Now that I’ve been to it myself, I hope to go back again next year, maybe even with my family. Those guys did a great job, and I was glad to be a part of it this year.” Aaron Gobert, also a first time attendee, had similar words. “2Fast did a great job, the event was well done, and I had a great time. I hope they invite me back again.” Past Seattle 100 guests have included Jake Zemke, Jason Pridmore, Greg White, Tony Meiring, and others. Corey Rastetter, Brett Hutton, and Nico Tomacelli were this year’s top fundraisers. While the average participant raised nearly $1000 in donations, the three of them together raised nearly $17,000 combined. Rastetter raised more than $10,000 alone, making him the Seattle 100’s largest fundraiser ever. All three were recognized at the awards banquet just prior to the auction MC’d by David Alan Grier. Proceeds of the event go to The NephCure Foundation (www.nephcure.org), a not for profit foundation helping children and families fight the devastating effects of kidney disease.
