This podium finish is Yates’ seventh Superstock podium in seven races. “The race was good and we got a good start,” said Yates. “I knew I was going to have to go as hard as I could right from the beginning and that’s what we did. I’d been hoping to get on the podium and it’s good to have the Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000 on the box.” In the previous day’s qualifying session, Yates posted an impressive lap time of 1:26.350, which was good enough to capture the second spot on the grid. “I’m happy with my qualifying time because I did my fastest lap on race tires,” said Yates. “We’ve found a good set-up for the Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000 and I’m looking forward to the race.” In the 17-lap race, Yates was out in front on the first lap and had moved into the lead by the second lap. Although he eventually was passed, he rode hard on his Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000 and continued to challenge for the lead until the race’s end. Yates remains in second place overall in the Superstock points chase. “My Yoshimura Suzuki crew did a great job and the GSX-R1000 is running strong,” he said. “Even though it’s late in the season we’re always looking to win the championship. That’s what we’re here for. We’re just looking to keep moving forward and I’m focusing on the next race at Mid-Ohio in a few weeks.” Aaron Yates, Team Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000, #1 2nd Place AMA Repsol Lubricants SuperStock 2nd Place Overall Superstock Top 10 Finishers: 1.
